Its Been 8 Years…And It All Ends Tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the end of the best literary collection in the history of the world…Percy Jackson.

Tomorrow is the release date of The Blood of Olympus, the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series and the final book in the Percy Jackson saga. Riordan has confirmed over twitter that, should he return at all to the world of Percy Jackson, it will be some years before it happens.

Many of us who have read the books have read grown to find them some of the very best books and series ever written; and its sad to think that tomorrow, October 7, 2014, it all has to come to end.

Whether Gaia wins and Camp Half Blood is destroyed; whether Jason or Leo defeat Gaia and save the earth from itself; whether Percy or Annabeth or Leo or Nico or Jason or Piper or Hazel or Frank die; it all comes to an end tomorrow.

Ever since that fateful day in 2006 when the first edition of The Lightning Thief appeared in bookstores the world of Percy Jackson has been leading up to this final event. Percy’s greatest challenge will happen tomorrow. And after that, we will have no new Percy story to look forward too.

While Rick is not finished writing, not by a long shot, we all know that he will forever be known as the author of Percy Jackson; and the fact that he has decided to stop writing one of the best-selling YA series of all time is saddening to the entire fandom.

We have followed Percy since his days at Yancy Academy to his first days at Camp Half Blood. From his trip to the Underworld, to his mission to save his best friend in the Sea of Monsters. From his quest to save Annabeth and Artemis from the hands of Atlas, to his times in the mysterious Labyrinth of Daedalus. Through the Titan War we have followed the world’s greatest hero. And just when we thought it was all over, a new twist was given to us.

We have followed Percy through New Rome and Alaska, as he defeats the very worst that Tartarus can throw at him. We have watched as he traveled through and bested the Mare Nostrum. And we have even seen him best the very pit itself; Tartarus.

We have watched as Percy Jackson has grown from the eleven year old he was introduced to us as into one of the greatest heroes and literary characters ever conceived.

And while we will have to say goodbye to our favorite demigod tomorrow, the world of Percy Jackson will always be only a few feet away; on the bookshelves of all of us. Even after Rick Riordan has finished writing and the world of Percy Jackson has been ended forever; Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Nico, and Reyna will persist in our minds and on our bookshelves as the greatest characters and heroes to have ever been written into existence.

Thank you Rick Riordan for the fabulous stories you have told through Percy and the rest of the Heroes of Olympus. But we, the entire fandom of Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus, have one last request from you:

NEVER STOP WRITING THESE FABULOUS STORIES
AND PLEASE
WRITE ANOTHER PERCY JACKSON SERIES

While the fandom will be satisfied with whatever you have planned for our favorite characters, we will always be asking you for one more adventure. One more monster to fight. One more immortal deity to stop. And one more look into the mind of Percy Jackson.

Read The Blood of Olympus, out October 7, 2014.
